Ask yourself, am I dreaming big enough?

I always wonder if any of us are asking ourselves that. I used to struggle with feeling selfish if I wanted more. The feeling was I am lucky in this lifetime and I shouldn’t even think about wanting more from it. Where did this idea come from?

Dreaming bigger or creating more in your life shouldn’t be thought of as more for me equals less for someone else. There is enough for all of us and all of our ideas of success are very different. As long as you are dreaming, I think that keeps you excited and engaged.

As children, we’re taught to reach for the stars. When did that stop? When did we start to settle? Some of you are probably thinking — it’s easy for her to say, she had parents that taught her these ideas early on. Or she didn’t go through what I went through in life. You’re probably right. We all have different stories, but we can all change the narrative and create more for ourselves.

I had the privilege to hear many stories from people of all different walks of life about how they created the life of their dreams. The one thing that sets them apart was that they never stopped believing it would happen — they never gave up. It’s as simple as that.

Are you living out your dreams? Ask yourself:

  1. Are you doing what you love?
  2. Do you feel fulfilled?
  3. Are you living your life? Not what someone else wants you to be doing.
  4. Do you wake up excited?
  5. Are you happy?

If you said yes to any of them — congratulations — that is amazing. If you said no to any of them, don’t fret. It is never to late to make a change. The key is to be aware of how you feel and what you want. Sometimes we aren’t even aware of what we are missing.

Remember the feelings you had when you were young… When you believed what adults told you, and everything seemed possible. It sounds cheesy, but everything still is possible. None of us are too old to do what we love. Don’t ever forget that.
